Awesomeness!

I just want to say how proud I am of everyone and all the progress that is being made here at CFM.  Every day someone is either setting a new PR,  perfecting a new movement or skill, making what was once impossible the possible, or talking about how life has been so much more enjoyable now that they CrossFit.   Speaking for all the coaches,  a big thanks to each

The CrossFit Games are almost under way.  Every year, thousands of people like yourselves test their mettle through a battery of WOD’s to see where they stand amongst the fittest in the world.  The first part of the contest – The Open is exactly that, open to all around the entire world.  After registering at The CrossFit Games Website, you can fill out an athlete profile to showcase your latest feats

There is no movement in all of lifting that requires as much balance, coordination, power, speed, finess, and above all athleticism than the Snatch.  Obtaining the ability to perform a  perfectly executed snatch is a huge milestone to reach and speaks volumes to your abilities as an athlete and as a human being. Watch this video for a more in depth look at the snatch.     February 20, 2013 WOD BB

Go Green!

I’ve come across a tasty little “green” drink that not only taste great but does wonders for your body.  It’s real simple to make too!  I would definitely recommend using a high quality blender (Vitamix) for this one!  Here ya go… Ingredients: 4-6 oz of water 1 cup crushed ice 2 apples (de-cored) 1 medium cucumber 2 handfuls spinach 2 sticks of celery 1/2 cup chopped parsley (opt) 1 lemon (the

Got water?

We will be taking pre-orders for anyone looking to purchase a protein supplement for the challenge.  All orders placed by Tuesday will receive 15% off. If you are in the challenge, you probably already know it is no easy feat drinking half your body weight in ounces daily (especially if you’re over 200#).  But that is just half the battle.  Remembering exactly how much you drink throughout the day can

It’s NOT to late to hop on board with the rest of us!  If you’ve been putting off signing up for the Challenge that everyone will be talking about for the next two months, wait no more.  This is your last chance to be part of something that will change you forever! We are shooting for next weekend or the following to have a little WLC Paleo potluck where everyone

This is the last day before the Whole Life Challenge Spring Throw-down 2013 kicks off!  So what does this mean…Indulge…Spoil yourself with all those things you will go without … hopefully forever.  Have a cheese pizza, enjoy a few extra cocktails, finish off those Valentine chocolates….Satisfy those cravings one last time and get it out of your system and off your mind! I am looking forward to the challenge (meaning

Gluten and Casein – to keep around or eliminate for good?  I am only going to harp on this subject momentarily because it is worth the mention before we start our challenge.    Gluten and casein are both naturally occurring proteins found in wheat and dairy products respectively.  They are also both two of the top allergens out there.  Like someone who is allergic to nuts or soy, both gluten

I have to say I am impressed at the overwhelming response to our athlete spotlight questionnaire we sent out the other week.  Our intention was to get the community to share some of their insight regarding CrossFit with new members or any onlookers to this site in an attempt to help them gain a better understanding of what we do and why.  Today’s spotlight athlete is Charles (Chuck) J.   First

A few things to mention today.  First, if you’re still without power, and have not had a hot shower in days, come join us for a WOD and take a nice long hot shower afterwards. I have an updated list of all the participants of the Whole Life Challenge.  I also have a list of several people who have signed up but have not paid.  I will be sending those

Looking for a place to come get warm??? Well the power has been restored!  CFM will be open for regular class hours on Monday.  I have to say, I haven’t seen storm with such severity in quite sometime.  I consider us lucky to be open with so many people out of power in the surrounding communities.   If your still without power (and have access to the web to read

Schedule update

With the Blizzard of 13′ making landfall over the next few hours, we have made the call to close up shop until the storm has passed.  We will be holding our regular Friday morning classes however we will be canceling the following classes: Friday –  6pm CrossFit Saturday – 7:30 SpinFit, 8:30 CrossFit & 9:30 CrossFit Classes and open gym will resume on Sunday morning.  Please note open gym on

After listening to the weather man assure us that we are ‘getting walloped’ by this storm heading our way, I will be reassessing our class schedule for Friday night/Saturday morning over the next day or so regarding class cancelations/changes.  I am not going to make a decision until Thursday night, which should be ample time to give our weather guys and gals  a chance to determine this things track with

Hey guys and gals!  Wouldn’t you like to know more about other people you CrossFit with?  We sure would…so we created an Athlete profile…it is a questionnaire that can be filled out completely (or not) as you want.  If you’re willing to share yourself with the rest of us, click this link CFM Athlete Spotlight Questionnaire.  It will take you to the questionnaire.  We’ll do our best at getting it up

I am not going to lie, mobilizing has to be one of my least favorite things to do on my quest towards elite fitness.  I mean, wouldn’t it be great if we were all blessed with an adequate range of motion so that all the exercises we did were restriction free?  Things  would just be that much easier.  But its not, and will never be that way, so forget I

I read a rather inspiring action-adventure tale today in Outside Magazine that made me take a moment.  This fella Eruc circumnavigated the earth (his route was a total of 37,472 miles) by means of bike and rowboat, powered solely by his own muscle, heart, and will.  This guy decided that along the way passing through 6 continents that he would bag the largest peaks on each, including soloing Everest with
